I guess if you do something without fail every year it is a tradition. So, Tim is gone on his annual golf trip and of course I made a recipe from my Top Secret Restaurant Recipe's cookbook. Benihana Fried Rice and Hibachi Chicken. Tim won't eat it so I always make it when he is gone. Every year without fail. I can eat on it for the three days he's gone since Seth doesn't stop in anymore.
While I had my camera out I took a picture of this distressed ticking basket label from Vintage Skye Etsy Shop that I won in a giveaway on another blog. This is only one label. I also got a #26 and #3 for Sarah's and Seth's birthday dates. #7 has always been my favorite number.
Gabby's spot on top of the loveseat.
I also got some numbered knobs and a couple of drawer pulls. I'll have to look for a piece of furniture or something to use them on.
Recipes I have adapted.
Hibachi Chicken
Chicken Breasts, cut in bite size pieces and coat with cornstarch
sliced mushrooms
oil or butter
sesame seeds
salt and pepper to taste
soy sauce...3 T. depending on how much chicken
Heat oil or butter in wok. Brown chicken and cook for a couple of minutes. Push to one side. Add mushrooms. Pour soy sauce over chicken and mushrooms. Cook just for about 5 minutes or chicken and mushrooms are done.
Fried Rice
1 cup rice, cooked according to directions
2 eggs, scrambled
1 cup frozen peas
2 T. grated carrot
1/2 cup chopped onion
butter or oil...I used mostly sesame oil
2 T. soy sauce
salt and pepper to taste
a couple of dashes of garlic powder
toasted sesame seeds
Cook all together in wok for about 6-8 minutes stirring often.
I always make Shrimp Sauce to eat with this too.
2 cups mayonnaise
2 T. sugar
1/4 T. garlic powder
1 T. paprika
4 T. melted butter
Mix together and thin with water to the consistency you like.
